D oug Wilson arrived soon enough with a couple of aides in a four-seat ATV. Evans showed him to the bodies. “I’m sorry, Administrator.”

“What… how?” Wilson asked hollowly.

“They were killed by Gresians,” Daniel said, for once feeling sympathy for the man. It was never easy to see people you knew and worked with die.

“Gresians?” Wilson exclaimed. Daniel nodded. “What do we… I mean, we can’t just leave them here.”

“I’ll have Sergeant Evans arrange for the bodies to be brought back for proper burial.”

Wilson was silent, apparently numbed.

“I’m afraid I also need your help again. We’ve got trouble. Big trouble. I need you to help us get your people indoors, into safe and secure locations. Ideally in buildings as close to the center of the settlement as possible. I’m going to need a head-count, as well.”

“Why?” Wilson asked blankly.

“Because we need to know if anyone else is already missing.”
